Guyana is the only English speaking country in South America and it is sandwiched between Suriname and Venezuela. This beautiful country, which is often called the land of many waters, is 83,000 sq. miles in size.
History has shown that this country has been “rocked” with many disturbing times and recently it has been faced with many criminal activities. These activities have caused many visitors, to shy away from visiting Guyana.
However, when you do get the opportunity to visit this multiracial and therefore multicultural and exciting country, do not skip visiting one or both of the places that I am about to mention.
Kaieteur Falls
Kaieteur Falls is one of the highest falls in the world. It is about 714 ft. high, which is about five times higher than the widely known Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada.
Located in Kaieteur National Park, Region 8 (North Rupununi), Potaro Siparuni, you can gain access to the falls by both land and air. This wonderful splendor consistently reflects a rainbow as the rushing water tumbles over the cliff.
I would recommend that you seek out a reputable touring company to take you there, so that you can also explore the surroundings of this spectacular place.
Botanical Gardens
The Botanical Gardens is located in the capital of Guyana, which is Georgetown. In the Gardens, you will find a zoo that houses over 100 species of wildlife, which includes, Jaguar, Harpy Eagle, West Indian Manatee and endanger species of birds.
In this admirable place, you will also find a beautiful array of various plants, some growing in ponds, while others on dry land. Additionally, many brides and grooms have chosen here to have their photographs taken.
A visit to Kaieteur Falls and the Botanical Gardens are two attractions that offer you an opportunity to experienced nature in a way that you will not be able to experience anywhere else
